Folklore Museum of of Nisyros

The Folklore Museum of Nisyros is situated in Mandraki. It is housed in two-storey mansion of the 18th century which was donated to the Municipality by Costas and Helen Sakellaridi. The rooms of the museum resemble the rooms of a traditional house of Nisyros. One of the most interesting rooms is the bedroom with a bed for the whole family. The bedroom also included two storage spaces, a cellar and a place to store clothes, sheets and various other items.

In the museum you will also see exhibits of folk art, mainly utilitarian objects used in the past such as plows, sickles, tubs, hand mills, jars and more. The exhibition also includes photographs, various memorabilia of the past, old embroidery and textiles, documents, books, chests and various crafts.
